Doolin's Doins
Greetings one and all to all the wonderful and marvelous Pards and Pardettes that shoot with the Moniteau Creek River Raiders.
Yes we're gong to have a shoot on the 10th. We'll start real quick at 0930 and get done before you can fry an egg on the boardwalk where Colonel Wilson wants to build the hanging scaffold. We'll plan on six stages, but they'll be quicker, attempting to get my rhythm down with the various scenarios so we don't have one quick and one long, but more equal. (That may change for the annual match, but we're still working out the bugs on the monthly.
Colonel Wilson reports that all is well at the range after numerous storms blew through the area, guess we built em' pretty good. Fences stayed up and all. Still have work day to schedule to get boat running and in the water as well as paint the town so to speak and build final stage props. Probably in late august or more moderate weather of September. Will have information on some local shoots, plus we're finalizing the annual match application. Got some minor quirks to work out.
Look forward to all who can bear the heat. There will be some guns on the trading table for those interested. Remember to bring plenty of fluids, we'll have plenty of water.
Been a suggestion and I agree, that we will suspend mandatory western garb for those who want to dress a little cooler for this Sunday. In fact, we'll have Hawaii Five-O day, for Muddy, that's more or less a transitional western series set against the landscape of one of the largest cattle ranches known to have existed. In honor of Hawaii Five-O day, we'll have a 10 second bonus (shooter's choice) for any shooter who is wearing a Hawaiian shirt with his/her gun belt.
Big news on the horizon, in September, we'll be shooting our inagural "Wild Bunch Category" that will allow shooters to use their 1911 throughout the match as a second or primary pistol along with some variations on one or two stages for rifles other than pistol caliber.(still working out the logistics of the increased horsepower on the rifle targets, but I think it will be fun) Of course, lead only bullets throughout.
Will keep you posted as news is made. Look forward to those who brave the heat on Sunday, The Colonel and I will be there along with MO Bounty Hunter.
Good Bye, Good Luck, and may the Good LORD take a liking to you.
Doolin
